Yin Yoga is a soft and gentle, yet very profound yoga practice. Through aspects of Hatha Yoga, the Chinese Meridian Theory, Taoist philosophy and Buddhist Mindfulness, Yin Yoga offers us deep relaxation for body and mind and various benefits for your immune system, organs and muscoskeletal system. Yin Yoga postures are held for time (usually 3-5 minutes), as the muscles need some time to relax, for the deeper layers of tissue (connective tissue/fascia) to be stimulated. In Yin Yoga we work on improving the flow of chi (our body's vital energy) within our energy system, for overall well-being and good health.
Yin Yoga is great for those also practicing more active, dynamic styles of yoga (e.g. Astanga, Vinyasa Flow) and sports. Yin Yoga classes are suitable and beneficial for everyone as the practice and postures can be adapted to your own needs and possibilities!
During this series of 8 weeks we will cover all of the meridian pairs, exploring their many physical, mental and energetic benefits. Anouk teaches these Yin Yoga classes as a means of self-care, providing you with tools and inspiration for a more balanced, happy and healthy life.
In her yoga classes Anouk wishes to show people that yoga does not need to be fuzzy nor complicated, but that yoga practice offers something to everyone and that with regular practice it can give you a more beautiful, richer and more balanced life. She teaches in a manner that is open and accessible to everyone; beginners and more advanced yogis. Her classes are marked by softness, a lot of individual care and attention and sufficient space to explore and push your physical as well as mental boundaries in a very gentle way. With her Yin Yoga classes Anouk hopes to give her students inspiration and courage to bring the principles of Yin Yoga off the mat and into real life, as that is where our real yoga practice begins.
