Astanga Easter Special Workshop with Petri Räisänen and Juha Javanainen April 2-4, 2021

Ashtanga Mysore, Led & Special Classes
(Led classes & lectures also Live stream)

The year of pandemy has been psychologically and emotionally very demanding. Now after one year of continuous uncertainty covering our minds about the future, we would like to praise the power of Yoga providing us methods to balance ourselves, to calm our breath and mind, and to fill us with positive feelings and energy.

Thus Petri and Juha will teach again the traditional Easter Ashtanga Yoga Workshop in Helsinki. Because of the current pandemy situation, only a small number of students is allowed to join the workshop at the Annannkatu Yogashala, but the led classes and lectures will be also Live streamed.

In this Easter workshop Petri and Juha will teach morning mysore classes at the Yogashala, and also lead the Ashtanga practitioners in Primary Series and Part of Intermediate from Friday to Sunday. Petri and Juha will also give special classes on the methods of Ashtanga Yoga.

Petri focuses on integrating healing and therapy with yoga, meeting student’s individual needs and guiding their progress. Petri’s yoga pose adjustments are gentle, effective, therapeutic and, according to some, almost magical, and originate (besides his own practice and teaching) from his past work as a traditional Finnish folk healer and naturopath. His friendly, relaxed behaviour and intuitive perception give an open, energetic and meditative atmosphere to his classes.

Juha wishes to share his long time practice and teaching experiences about how to work with the body&mind for healing purposes within the yoga practice. “My enthusiasm in teaching Astanga is to share this unic and excellent practical yoga method to anyone who is willing to study and practice it. In doing this I wish to follow my teacher’s advice: ‘A good teacher should know, that some asanas can be painful for some people, and so the teacher should know what alternative pose could give the same benefit’. My own experience is that the yoga practitioner should avoid bad pain. And a good yoga teacher should avoid causing pain to others, including yoga students, either physically, emotionally or mentally. Then there is open space in yoga for healing and becoming a whole being.”

In this Easter workshop Petri will lead the Ashtanga practitioners in Primary Series and Part of Intermediate from Friday to Sunday.

Petri and Juha will also give special classes on Astanga Yoga. All the classes are Live streamed by Zoom.
