Summer Retreat week 6.7.-12.7. New beginners

Ashtanga yoga retreat week for new beginners without ashtanga experience, or to restart the practice. The course offers daily morning classes, where we introduce the basic ashtanga practices. Daily morning classes to energize and strengthen or to recover. Retreat offers also plenty of other classes including yoga lab, philosophy, pranayama, and meditation. Retreat is international, teaching primarily in English.

Summer Yoga Retreat on the seaside of beautiful Houtskar Island in collaboration with Astanga Yoga School Helsinki and Skärgårdsskolan Houtskär. Wide range of Yoga activities, amazing nature and fresh sea breeze, delicious vegetarian/vegan/gluten free meals, sauna every day.

Every retreat week has a special theme with different teachers. We will help you to elevate your mind, body, and soul. Besides of morning yoga practice we have plenty of classes including Breath work/Pranayama and Meditation, and weekly topics Philosophy of Yoga Sutras, Energy Healing, and Inspiring artwork.

Every retreat week starts with an arrival on Monday afternoon between 15:00-19:30, followed by dinner from 18:00-19:30. The opening meeting of the week will take place on Monday evening from 19:15-20:15.

Choose your preferred weekly program from Tuesday to Sunday. Each week includes various classes such as pranayama, meditation, yoga lab classes, and more.

Week 1: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course, Yinful Yoga*, Yoga Philosophy with Måns Broo, , Pilates*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Week 2: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course, Meditation to explore elements of personal evolution, Yinyoga with Tibetan singing bowls*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.
Main teachers: Petri, Juha, Tamara, Wambui.

Week 3: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Meditation, chanting & artwork, Mindfulness*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen

Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen took her first yoga class when she was 16. It proved to be the therapy she needed during rigorous, professional dance training. She continued to practice different types of yoga throughout college and graduate school. She came across Ashtanga Yoga in 2008 when she was living in Abu Dhabi. The structure and consistency of the method was the grounded discipline she needed at that time. For the past ten years, Wambui has been immersed in Ashtanga yoga and feels deeply grateful for all what the practice has brought to fruition, both in her personal and professional life. Currently, in the wake of #metoo and the collective shift towards decolonialization, Wambui’s plans involve teaching yoga through an explicitly trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens. BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ communities have been the voices most silenced, and are the bodies most left out of the healing space while simultaneously being the most impacted by systemic trauma. Therefore, creating wellness spaces that feel more welcoming, inclusive and accessible is of utmost necessity and importance. Together with her massage training (Chavutti Thirumal) and meditation advocacy, Wambui strives to work at the intersection of social inclusion, equity and wellness.
